Award Year

The Award Year field can help you narrow your search to films that have an award associated with them for a particular or range of years. The default years entered are 1928 (earliest award) to the most recent awards included in the site. Day and month are not searchable as search criteria in this field. The Award Year field can be searched in two ways. To search on a range of years, enter the relevant year values into the from and to boxes, or to search within a single year, enter the same year in the from and to boxes. For example:

Award Year from to

Award Year from to

The BAFTA and Oscar ceremony and awards include a year in their title, which is always the year prior to when awards are presented. For example, the Orange British Academy Film Awards 2002 were presented in 2003. To find films that were awarded a BAFTA in the 1994 ceremony you would need to specify the award year as 1993.

Searching for films that have won awards at the Oscar or BAFTA ceremonies held in the current year will not necessarily yield any results, as this data may not yet be available in Film Index International.

Awards

The Awards are arranged by the six different awarding bodies (ie Venice Festival Awards) that are included in Film Index International and within each set of awarding bodies are the individual awards.

You can search on one or more award series. Windows users can multi-select contiguous terms using SHIFT+Click and non-contiguous terms using CTRL+Click. Highlighted terms can be de-selected by moving the cursor to the relevant term and using CTRL+Click. For example:

The Country field will limit a search to films that originate in a particular country in the Film search. For example:

Use the Director field to search for films with a particular director's name in the Film search. For example:
